आउटर रिंग रोड रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह का ड्रीम प्रोजेक्ट है। 104 किमी लंबी सिक्स लेन सड़क का शिलान्यास सितंबर 2017 में केंद्रीय मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह और नितिन गडकरी ने किया था। लोकार्पण इसी वर्ष सात मार्च को हुआ था। पहले चरण में कुर्सी रोड से फैजाबाद रोड के बीच 19 किलोमीटर पर काम पूरा हो चुका है। आउटर रिंग रोड में लखनऊ समेत बाराबंकी के देवा, नवाबगंज तहसील समेत 43 गांव शामिल होंगे। इस प्रोजेक्ट के तहत दोनों जिलों से करीब 1500 एकड़भूमि का अधिग्रहण किया जा रहा है।
आउटर रिंग रोड कुर्सी रोड से गोसाईगंज सुल्तानपुर रोड के बीच 25 दिसंबर से शुरू किये जाने की तैयारी है। इसमें पूरा निर्माण अगले साल के अंत तक होगा। जिसके बाद 104 किमी के दायरे में एक नया लखनऊ स्वरूप लेगा। मास्टर प्लान-2031 में आउटर रिंग रोड के चारों ओर अधिकांश लैंडयूज तय किये जा चुके हैं। प्राधिकरण 104 किमी के इस दायरे को शहीद पथ की तर्ज पर विकसित कर के नये लखनऊ को विकसित करेगा। ये विकास अगले आठ साल में पूरा हो जाएगा।
